The Shoei Hornet ADV has long been one of my favourite adventure helmets, but the new ADV06 looks remarkably similar to the helmet it replaces. So what's actually changed, and in 2026, is the Hornet still one of the best?

In this first look review, I’ve been putting it through its paces, looking at comfort, noise, ventilation, aerodynamics, practicality as well as the changes made for ECE 22.06

It's certainly taken Shoei a while to bring it to market, but what do you think of their approach? Should they have changed more, or were they right to leave a successful formula largely alone?

Can £600 really buy you good adventure motorcycle gear?

Adventure riding kit can get seriously expensive, with premium helmets, jackets, trousers and boots easily pushing the cost of a complete outfit into the thousands. But how much do you actually need to spend?

I headed to Sportsbikeshop in Norwich with a simple challenge: kit myself out from head to toe with usable adventure motorcycle gear for no more than £600.

That bought me an LS2 Pioneer II helmet, Oxford Calgary jacket and trousers, Richa Adventure boots, plus not one but two pairs of gloves. Oxford Montreal 4s for colder and wetter weather and Spada MX-Air Rev 2s for summer.

But buying it was only the first part of the challenge.

I took everything away and covered hundreds of miles on the bike to find out where the compromises really are. Because while specifications and price tags can tell you what you're buying, they don't tell you what that gear is actually like to live with.

So, can you genuinely kit yourself out for adventure riding for under £600? And perhaps more importantly, where does spending more money actually make the biggest difference?

There's no denying how useful a top box is, but they can be pretty ugly and cumbersome. This is where the Givi Trekker Dolomiti DLM30 has answered my prayers. Compact & Secure storage, that looks good!

The Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally is big, powerful, expensive and packed with more technology than GCHQ! But does that make it excessive… or is that exactly what makes it so good?

In this review, I’ve spent a couple of weeks living with Ducati’s flagship adventure tourer to find out whether all that performance, technology and capability genuinely improves the riding experience.

With 170hp from its 1158cc V4 Granturismo engine, a 30-litre fuel tank, semi-active Skyhook suspension, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, auto-lowering suspension and a huge array of electronic rider aids, the Multistrada V4 Rally certainly isn’t short of equipment.

But specifications only tell you so much.

What’s it actually like to manoeuvre 260kg at low speed? Is 170hp ridiculous on an adventure bike? Is all that technology genuinely useful? Is it comfortable enough for serious long-distance touring? And despite its size, can it still put a smile on your face when the roads get interesting?

Perhaps most importantly, does the complete package justify the price?

Electric motorcycles have always come with some obvious compromises. Limited range, longer charging times, and for many riders, they've simply never made much sense.

So when Honda invited me to spend some time with the new WN7, I expected to come away with the same conclusion. Instead, I found myself asking a different question.

Maybe we've been judging electric motorcycles by the wrong criteria.

In this review, I look beyond the headline figures and marketing claims to explore what the Honda WN7 is actually like to ride, who it makes sense for, and whether electric motorcycles are finally ready for the real world.

As always, this isn't a spec sheet walkaround. It's an honest road test and my genuine thoughts after spending time with the bike.

Have we forgotten the traditional sports tourer?

For years, adventure bikes have dominated the market, offering comfort, practicality and the promise of going anywhere. But for riders who spend almost all of their time on tarmac, have we overlooked what made traditional sports tourers so good in the first place?

After several hundred miles on BMW's R1300RS, I found myself asking exactly that question.

In this review, I take a closer look at the comfort, handling, practicality and real-world touring ability of BMW's latest boxer-powered sports tourer, and whether it might actually be the better choice for many riders than a modern adventure bike.

Honda CB1000F review on UK roads. Can Honda's modern interpretation of the legendary CB750F and CB900F deliver more than just nostalgia?

The Honda CB1000F isn't just another retro motorcycle. It's Honda's modern interpretation of two legendary machines that became icons on both the road and the racetrack.

But is this simply a nostalgic styling exercise, or has Honda genuinely captured the character that made the originals so special?

In this full review, I take one of the first Honda CB1000Fs onto UK roads, looking at the styling, heritage, features and, most importantly, what it's actually like to ride. After all, specifications only tell part of the story. Character is what really matters.

The Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 has become one of the most popular modern café racers on the market, but what happens when you hand one over to the team at Sold Out Motorcycles?

Summer motorcycle jackets can easily cost £300, £400 or more, but does spending extra money actually get you a better riding experience?
